Q: Are there any dangers or adverse side effects with PRP and prolotherapy?

As with any injection, there is always a risk of infection, but because PRP is derived from the own body there is not a risk of rejection. There have been no adverse effects shown in research other than minor swelling and pain immediately following the injection.

Q: How does integrative women’s health differ from seeing my gynecologist?

Honestly, it really isn’t that different. We practice the same screening guidelines. The difference lies in the approach to evaluation and treatment. At Sirona Integrative Health, we utilize a comprehensive laboratory evaluation that is patient centered to find the underlying cause. Our treatments almost always include botanical and dietary/lifestyle modifications in addition to considering pharmaceutical interventions if deemed necessary.

Q: What are bio-identical hormones and how are they different?

Bio-identical hormones are synthesized and sometimes derived from plant material and made to interact in the body in the same manner as the hormones your body creates. Because they are processed in the same way as our endogenous (made in the body) hormones, the safety profile is usually better. It is important to state that, the hormones are bio-identical, they can be dangerous and a thorough evaluation is necessary to determine personalized safety.

Q: How is naturopathic fertility treatment different from conventional reproductive endocrinologist?

As with our approach to women’s health, we look at many parameters in the body that could be contributing to a hormonal imbalance and thus infertility. After thorough evaluation, we use botanical and targeted nutritional therapies to establish homeostasis and increase chances of successful conception.
• In addition to the hormonal treatments, we evaluate for structural and other barriers to conception.

Q: Is nutritional IV and injection therapy safe?

Anytime we are introducing a foreign substance into the body there is an area of risk, however we take precautions to minimize the risk of infection or allergic reactions. Research into specific IV and injectable nutrients has not shown any significant risk factors. However with any patient receiving nutrients via IV or injection we perform a thorough intake to establish safety before the procedure.
