Integrative Pelvic Therapy addresses conditions associated with the abdomen, pelvis, hips, and pelvic floor muscles. The pelvic floor or “pelvic bowl” provides support for organs, helps control bladder and bowel function, aids in sexual function, and provides musculoskeletal stability. Some of the pelvic conditions that can be treated include low back and hip pain, SI joint dysfunction, chronic pelvic pain, painful sex, painful menstruation, urinary incontinence and urgency, constipation, prolapse, post-surgical or post-traumatic scarring and adhesions, prenatal care, and postpartum recovery.
Integrative Pelvic Therapy can increase your awareness of your body and your boundaries and strengthen the connection between your mind, body, and spirit. Many people have experienced sexual trauma, which can be held and stored in the body. Treatment can trigger and release emotions, which can be a healing experience when it happens in a safe space. We will provide a safe container for the wide range of experiences that are possible during treatment.
We can help optimize muscle function and improve your quality of life through education, manual therapy, and exercises, in combination with other naturopathic support. Your treatment can include both external body work and internal myofascial release (intravaginal, intrarectal), but we will not begin any therapies until you’re ready. You are in full control of the treatment and how it progresses. Any treatments can be changed or stopped at any time. The number of treatments needed is unique to you and will be based on your response to treatment.
